Training the Equestrian Brain
with Yogi Breisner

Wednesday 14th October 2009

World Class Performance Manager and Chef d’Equipe to the British Three Day Eventing Team– Yogi Breisner – gave an evening talk to equine enthusiasts at Nottingham Trent University's Brackenhurst campus. The event was a complete sell out.

Yogi is one of the country’s most successful and respected trainers of both horses and riders. As a rider he competed successfully in dressage, show jumping, horse trials and point to points in Sweden, Ireland and the UK - being ranked as one of the best in the world.

A fellow of the British Horse Society, he is British Eventing’s National Coach and has been instrumental in the development of coaching initiatives across all levels. In addition to the senior team, he also oversees the British Pony, Junior and Young Rider teams.

During the course of the lecture, Yogi gave an insight into how you can train to get the most out of your horse by working with his natural instinct in order to optimise performance.

Yogi commented: “It’s important to identify the horse's individual personality traits and then make use of this in your approach to his education, training and schooling.   The outcome should be the development of a willing, happy and cooperative horse that will work for you to the maximum of his ability.”

Zoe Cobb, Commercial Manager at Brackenhurst Equestrian Centre said “We were delighted that Yogi was able to come to Brackenhurst to allow us to benefit from his experience and expertise. The lecture was truly exceptional and very informative.”
